CNN has created an online wire service for journalists and news organisations to download and use individual news stories, a press release from the broadcaster has announced. The CNN Wire Store will offer international journalists, publishers and media organisations the opportunity to license CNN text content through
its website.
A single use licence will cost $199 per story, which can be paid with a credit card transaction online.
The site is a further development of CNN's existing wire service and aims to offer on demand news content for publishers, the release said.
"CNN understands the changing business landscape of journalism and the marketplace. The expanded CNN Wire Store provides an opportunity for a new platform to make CNN Wire stories easily accessible, and for the first time, on a per-story basis to any publisher, anywhere on its own timetable," said Susan Grant, executive vice president of CNN News Services, in the release.
"The CNN Wire Store gives journalists the ability to utilise CNN's enterprising reporting to expand their coverage of key issues. And because the CNN Wire is now available a la carte, they have the flexibility to pick and choose the specific stories that are right for them."
