Data, apps and standards on the agenda for Digital Editors Network meeting

Online journalism standards, digital editions and data scraping are all on the agenda for next meeting of the Digital Editors' Network (DEN) .
Will Gore from the Press Complaints Commission (PCC) will explain the regulator's consultation on how to extend its online remit. Questions about where corrections should appear online and what responsibility publishers have for journalists on social media sites will be addressed.
Joining Gore will be Ben Edwards from digital editions firm PageSuite to discuss mobile and reader apps for regional news titles and Francis Irving, who will talk about his work with online data scraping project ScraperWiki and the opportunities it offers journalists.
"The Government is promising to unleash a tsunami of data and how publishers respond to the opportunity will be crucial to the development of online journalism," says DEN organiser Nick Turner in a press release.
The meeting of the Digital Editors Network, which is supported by Journalism.co.uk and sponsored by Northwest Vision Media and the Communication at the University of Central Lancashire, will be held on 14 October in Manchester.
