Demand Media is one of the fastest growing companies online in the UK, according to new analysis of web traffic.
Figures from the UK Online Measurement company (UKOM), which uses Nielsen data and is run by the Association of Online Publishers (AOP) and the Internet Advertising Bureau, suggest a 111 per cent growth in visits by UK individuals to Demand Media's sites from July 2009 to July 2010.
Demand Media, which recently launched a UK-version of its eHow site , saw "the number of unique UK individuals" coming to its sites rise from 1,728,000 to 3,638,000 for the period, according to UKOM. These results put the media company third in UKOM's top 10 fastest-growing companies by unique UK audience members, behind Facebook and Camelot Group.
In the breakdown of monthly audience numbers, UKOM's figures put the BBC at number six in the top 10 sites for unique users in July 2010. The BBC's network of sites attracted 20,513,000 - a 0.77 per cent year-on-year increase. Full figures from the UKOM are available via the AOP website .
