The Digital Editors' Network is to host an event on the legal risks faced by media organisations as they expand their digital platforms.

Caroline Kean, head of litigation for law firm Wiggin LLP, will lead the discussion, which will address legal issues surrounding blogs, forums, digital archiving, linking, commenting and breaking news online.

Kean, who is vice president of the Media Society, will be joined by Wiggin's colleague Phil Gorski for the event on October 7.

The meeting in Preston, which is free to attend, and is supported by the University of Lancashire's journalism department, will also feature a showcase of digital projects from regional media groups.
