The British division of European sports network Eurosport has partnered with the Centre for Journalism at Leeds Trinity University College to offer paid placements as part of a new training programme launched today.

The Eurosport Internship Programme will offer selected students three months of paid work experience at British Eurosport’s operation in West London, working either in television production or reporting for the company’s sports news website .

"The practical and editorial training this programme will offer enables students to learn the basics of sports media in a practical, working environment which can only provide an advantage at the start of their respective careers," managing director of Eurosport's UK division David Kerr said in the release.

"We have a long record of nurturing raw talent and helping young people develop and this internship offers candidates a great platform both here and in the wider industry. Given the unique nature of Eurosport, as a broadcaster in particular, this could give candidates a real opportunity to work with us in the future."

Students will also be able to apply for a limited number of work placements throughout Eurosport’s network of international offices, based on their foreign language skills, the release adds. The first intake of students to the programme will begin in May this year.
