Bureau, who left CNET in June last year, will focus on expanding the publisher's cross-media titles, in addition to its e-commerce and online-only products.
Prior to his role as managing director, he was vice president of the European sales network for CNET Networks International.
He was also responsible for the launch of Business and Technology magazine and its companion website, which were subsequently sold to Dennis Publishing.
Bureau has already appointed Duncan Tickell, former group publishing director at Incisive Media, who will help lead the digital plans.
“We are setting out our stall to make Magicalia the leading special interest cross-media and digital publisher. To do this, we need to combine great print titles with world class digital operations, and offer readers and advertisers a compelling mix of products," said Bureau in a press release.
Earlier this year the publisher acquired Practical Parenting from IPC Media - the latest in a series of offline acquisitions to expand its cross-media offering.
