Midlands regional newspaper the Express & Star has launched a sports website targeting football fans with video content. Sporting Star Live , which is dedicated to coverage of West Midlands football, appears at weekends only and replaces the paper's Friday night sports section.

Video updates featuring team news and score lines feature four times a day on the site, while host Stuart Pollitt delivers match reports from the Express & Star's reporters at the weekend's matches.

The video bulletins are accompanied by a text service, offering subscribers mobile news on goals, sendings off and fans' reaction to results. Visitors to the site can also leave their comments and reaction to the news updates.

"Sporting Star Live is a fantastic addition to our comprehensive sports coverage," said Adrian Faber, Express & Star editor.

"It complements the Sporting Star - the Midlands only Saturday evening sports paper. It is a key part of delivering an entertaining, informative, up-to-the-minute service on our website."
