The McCormick New Media Women Entrepreneurs programme , which calls for innovative ideas for new websites, mobile news services or other entrepreneurial initiatives which engage communities with news, will

be funded by the McCormick Foundation

and the J-Lab: The Institute for Interactive Journalism. Four projects in total will be given the one-time funding of $12,000 to launch a new venture, either individually or in teams spear-headed by women.

According to the rules projects must launch within 10 months, have a plan for continuing after the initial funding has ended and have a journalistic value.

Entries can be submitted until 4 April.

Recipients must also agree to post brief weekly blog updates to the New Media Women website sharing their experience during the development stage.
