The ITV News Group has opened up applications for next year's Regional News Trainee Scheme aimed at budding broadcast journalists.

Now in its sixth year, the scheme, which incorporates courses with on-the-job training, will select eight applicants looking to develop their broadcast journalism within the company.

The ITV regions (and main bases) included in the scheme are: ITV Anglia (Norwich), ITV Central (Birmingham), ITV Granada (Manchester), ITV Meridian (Whiteley, near Southampton), ITV Tyne Tees & Border (Gateshead), ITV Wales (Cardiff), ITV West & Westcountry (Bristol) and ITV Yorkshire (Leeds).

The 2011 scheme will begin on Wednesday 2 March for 12 months. ITV says there is no guarantee of permanent employment at the end of the 12-month period but that the purpose is to "nurture and develop talented entry-level journalists to a very high standard". Applications can be made online until Friday 19 November.
