Members of joint unions working at ITV have voted to accept a pay offer from the broadcaster, according to a report by broadcaster's union BECTU.

Members of the union voted in a ballot by a margin of four to one to accept a consolidated pay rise of 3 per cent. The report claims that members of the NUJ and Unite also voted "strongly to accept".

The NUJ previously told Journalism.co.uk that members included employees in regional newsrooms.

The increase, which will be added to an award of company shares for most members of staff, will apply from 1 January, BECTU added.

The unions originally sought an increase in line with inflation, claiming that October's Retail Prices Index stood at 4.5 per cent and the Consumer Prices Index at 3.2 per cent.

ITV has not yet responded to a request for comment.
