Journalists across the UK are being asked to share their views on professional standards as part of an international research project. The online survey takes just five minutes, is fully anonymous, and covers real-world journalism experiences.
Led in the UK by Dr Ato Erzan-Essien (University of Lancashire), the study aims to understand which professional qualities unite journalists today as the industry is rapidly changing. Dr Erzan-Essien notes that traditional markers of journalism are evolving, making it harder for the public to spot reliable news and easier for misinformation to spread.
The survey, which is also running in Brazil, Canada, the Netherlands, and South Africa, hopes to uncover how journalists worldwide can reclaim public trust, especially as the UK currently ranks low in news trust.
