The Knight International Journalism Award opened for nominations this week. The award recognises professional or citizen journalists whose reporting has made a significant difference to the lives of people in their country. The annual contest , which is administered by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), pick two winners each year. Nominations can be made for reporters, editors, media managers, citizen journalists or bloggers. Last year's winners were Brazilian investigative journalist Daniela Arbex and Indonesian radio entrepreneur Tosca Santoso.
Nominations can be sent in until 15 March and the winners will be honoured at an ICFJ Awards Dinner on 1 November where they will receive a $3,000 cash prize and crystal trophy.
