Health Service Journal and magazine for GPs Pulse were both named winners at last week's Medical Journalists' Association (MJA) awards.

Emap publication HSJ took the Health Website of the Year prize, while Pulse was recognised as Health Publication of the year at the annual awards.

The British Medical Journal received two awards: freelance journalist for the BMJ Zosia Kmietowicz was named Medical Journalist of the Year and editor Fiona Godlee won Health Editor of the Year.

Libel reform campaigners science writer Simon Singh and group Sense About Science were named Health Campaigner of the Year and Health Charity of the Year respectively. In April the British Chiropractic Association dropped its libel case against Singh over an article he had written for the Guardian after a lengthy campaign by freedom of expression and libel reform groups.

"Medical and science reporters must be free to ask awkward questions without ending up in court. That is why we welcome the libel reform bill soon to go before Parliament and will continue campaigning to make sure it offers real change in English libel law," says Tracey Brown of Sense About Science in a release from the MJA.

Each of the individual winners received £500 with trophies for group and title prizes. Other winners on the night included:
