The channel on the Natmags site, which was launched on Tuesday, is the first use of video content by the title. MHTV currently offers a fitness channel with more than 80 video versions of exercise routines, including those featured in articles on the site and in the magazine.

Plans to extend the service to cover nutrition and style and grooming are underway, Alun Williams, the magazine's publisher, told Journalism.co.uk.

"We're looking to extend the content into our other areas, but what's important is we keep it to what's core to us," said Williams.

"Sometimes when publishers get the functionality of video they get a bit carried away and they put up any video content they get. We need to keep it core to Men's Health."

The videos will be used to complement other articles on the site and used for content, such as fitness demonstrations, that will benefit from the use of a visual medium, said Williams.

The decision to increase the site's multimedia offering, which has been under development since the site was relaunched last year, was enabled by the magazine's integration of its online and print editorial teams, he added.
