The News of the World will launch an iPad app as part of new paywall plans for its website confirmed by News International today.

The iPad app will cost users £1.19 a week and follows the announcement of a pricing structure for a relaunched notw.co.uk from October. No launch date for the iPad app has been announced.

The new News of the World website will charge readers £1 per day or £1.99 for four weeks and subscription packages to the site will not include access to the iPad app.

"Our new digital sites and apps will showcase our agenda-setting stories, celebrity exclusives and world-class investigative journalism, plus our unrivalled sports coverage, to give our audience unbeatable value," says Colin Myler, News of the World editor, in a release from News International. In May fellow News International title the Times launched its iPad edition at a price of £9.99 for a 28-day subscription. Bugs and user problems with the app has forced the Times to give downloaders three months of free access following their initial purchase, rather than collecting £9.99 renewals each month.

Sister paper the Sun launched its iPad application in June at a price of £4.99 every 28 days.
