Digital journalist Alison Gow has been appointed editor of WalesOnline and the Wales on Sunday.
Gow, who blogs at
Headlines and Deadlines , has been a part of parent company Trinity Mirror since 2004, first as deputy editor of the Liverpool Daily Post and most recently as executive editor for digital at the Liverpool Echo.
Trinity Mirror said today that she has played "a key role" in the digital growth of the business.
"We're delighted to have Alison onboard," Media Wales publishing director Alan Edmunds said in the release.
"She comes with an impeccable pedigree and a proven news-sense and is bursting with ideas for the newspaper and website alike."
Gow, who was born in Pembrokeshire, said: "It is tremendous to be coming home to Wales and to contribute to the tradition of the high quality newspapers and websites that our readers and advertisers expect."
She will take up the new role in January.
