Telegraph Media Group has appointed Shane Richmond (left) as the editorial head of its newly formed technology team.

The new team will report on key technology developments, news and reviews for the print edition and Telegraph.co.uk, a release from the group has said.

The new coverage will include contributions from Amanda Andrews, Emma Barnett, Claudine Beaumont, Nick Cowen, Urmee Khan, Rick Maybury, Rupert Neate and Matt Warman.

Prior to this appointment Richmond was communities editor for Telegraph.co.uk, overseeing the site's user community, My Telegraph , and the site's network of blogs.

He joined the Telegraph in 1998. A new communities editor has not yet been appointed, a spokeswoman for the group confirmed.
