News International has appointed former Telegraph editor-in-chief William Lewis as general manager. Lewis, who left Telegraph Media Group in May , will be responsible for overall editorial spend across the Sun, Times, News of the World and Sunday Times, a release from News International says. Before leaving the Telegraph Lewis was named managing director of digital at the Telegraph and set up a separate entrepreneurial unit of 50 staff known as Euston Partners . Following Lewis' departure Chris Lloyd, the former deputy managing editor at Telegraph Media Group, and the former consulting editor, Rhidian Wynn Davies have both left Euston Partners, which has now been brought into the Telegraph's Victoria HQ.
His new role will see him work closely with News International's chief technology officer to "implement a next generation of editorial technology" at the titles. Lewis joins former Telegraph chief information officer Paul Cheesbrough, who left to take up the same role at News International in June.
Prior to joining the Telegraph, Lewis was business editor of the Sunday times from 2002 to 2005 and worked for the Financial Times and Mail on Sunday.
He will take up his new role after the summer, says the release.
