Reed Business Information (RBI) is to close specialist beauty industry title Health and Beauty Salon .
The closure, which was announced to staff yesterday, will result in the loss of two editorial roles and one sales position. Staff affected by the plans will start a one-month consultation period, the publisher said in a memo.
RBI said "difficult trading conditions" and falling advertising revenues were behind the decision, which will see the last issue of the monthly title published on 28 October.
"I would like to thank the team hugely for their continued commitment, dedication and hard work and for the support they have given to the title over many years," said Jayne Lewis-Orr, publisher and editor-in-chief of RBI's hair and beauty group, in the memo.
RBI confirmed the plans to Journalism.co.uk, but made no further comment. The group has recently been involved in a series of deals to offload or close its magazine titles since its proposed sale alongside UK magazine publishing arm was terminated by parent company Reed Elsevier in December 2008 .
In June, RBI began the sale of its portfolio of Utility Week titles to Faversham House Group and announced the end of Personnel Today in print .
In a separate decision announced yesterday, IPC Media made public the sale of specialist title Cage & Aviary Birds to Kelsey publishing. All staff on the title will move to the new owners and there will be no disruption to the publishing schedule, said IPC.
