A UK startup has launched a new service which could help online publishers and bloggers create revenue through lead generation. Respond, a product from software company Azullo Limited, which was set up last year , provides a button on websites alongside articles which visitors can click on to request specific information about products or services that are relevant to the publishers content.
The service, which is free for both publishers and consumers, sends enquiries to FSA authorised advisers which are then matched to brands and advertisers working with Respond.
For each valid enquiry the company says it will give 70 per cent of the income to the publisher. The first sector to go live is personal finance with more due to be available soon.
"Publishers add the Respond button to their sites so that it appears near relevant content (e.g. under each article alongside the Facebook Like button)," the website explains.
"Their visitors can then choose to click the button and complete an enquiry about a topic of interest. An article about house prices, for example, might prompt a reader to send an mortgage enquiry.
"Respond is different because we don't use incentives or co-registration. We are only interested in people who are genuinely interested in our brand owners products and services."
"When browsing the web people often read an article and want to act on it, but get distracted and move on," Guy Cookson, co-founder of Respond added.
"Respond gives people the chance to act on that impulse and send an enquiry about a product or service without leaving the original page.
"Pre-qualified enquiries are worth more to brands than views and clicks, and we share the majority of income we receive with our network of publishers. It's a really simple way for website owners and bloggers to generate revenue from premium lead generation without compromising their editorial independence or ethics."
The company adds that Respond will work alongside existing advertising models, including affiliate networks and Google Adsense and can be added to almost any website and so far the most "popular blogging platforms" such as WordPress, Tumblr and Blogger.
