If your online research is limited to straightforward Google searches, then you are you almost certainly only getting half the story.

To help you get the full picture, Journalism.co.uk is running a one-day intensive training course in advanced online research in London on 16 May. The course is designed to give you tools to deliver better and more focused material, faster.

It will explore practical ways you can use your time online more efficiently by using the right tools for the right job.

The course will cover key techniques for:

• using search engines more effectively;

• precision surfing;

• finding people and finding out about people online;

• investigative online research and anonymous surfing;

• searching past, and monitoring future, web content effectively; and, much, much more.

Delegates will have online access throughout the day and will work on a range of practical examples.

Course organiser is freelance journalist Colin Meek who  has written two 'How To' features for journalism.co.uk on Finding out about people online and Using search engines for precision surfing .

He has organised training courses for journalists and policy analysts since 2005.
