The Sun will launch an app for its showbiz section Bizarre on iPhone and Android handsets.
According to a promotional site for the new app it will cost £1.19 for 30 days.
News International would not confirm a release date for the app, but a competition promoting the app closes on 1 October with the winners announced on 9 October. The Sun's website describes the forthcoming app as "an Access All Areas pass" to showbiz news. The app will include video content, an aggregation page for Twitter updates from the Bizarre team, news updates and a digital edition of the daily print edition Bizarre column.
The Sun has already developed an application for the iPad, which it launched in June at £4.99 for a 28-day subscription.
