Telegraph, Mail, Mirror and Sun agree to remove Beatrice images

The Daily Telegraph, Daily Mirror, Daily Mail and the Sun have agreed to take down pictures taken of Princess Beatrice while she was on holiday in the French Riviera.

The princess complained to the Press Complaints Commission through her lawyers Harbottle and Lewis that the pictures were taken in a place where she had a reasonable expectation to privacy.

The publishers disagreed that the images constituted a breach of her privacy but agreed to remove the images from their websites.

The PCC said: "The newspapers did not accept that the complainant had a reasonable expectation of privacy in the locations in which she had been photographed. However, in view of her concerns, the newspapers all agreed to remove the photographs from their websites and give an assurance that they would not be republished. The complaints were resolved on this basis."

In September, the Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, and the Daily Mirror agreed to remove images of the Middleton family holidaying on a boat in Ibiza in 2006.

Carole Middleton, Pippa Middleton and James Middleton, the mother, sister and brother of Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, complained

through Harbottle and Lewis that the images breached a reasonable expectation to privacy and that their boat had been followed.

The newspapers argued that the images did not breach her privacy and had been widely circulated since 2006 without complaint, and their view was supported by the PCC. They agreed to remove the images however.
