The Telegraph recorded an increase in monthly unique browsers of more than 10 per cent in October, the highest rise reported for a UK national newspaper website by Audit Bureau of Circulations.
The website saw monthly unique browsers increase from 51.4 million in September to 56.9 million in October. It also recorded the second highest increase in average daily traffic, with a rise of 7.8 per cent.
The Independent website recorded the highest increase in average daily unique browsers, rising from 763,685 to 825,861 month-on-month.
Meanwhile the Guardian website secured the second highest increase in traffic for the whole of October, compared to September, of 9.8 per cent.
According to a release, its total figure of 71.8 million monthly unique browsers for October is "a record high". The Guardian added that "this follows on from the news that traffic from the US is also at record levels", based on ComScore results.
The Mail Online saw its total monthly unique browser figure rise beyond its record of 105.7 million which it reached in August , to a new high of 106 million in October.
Earlier today the Daily Mail and General Trust reported in preliminary end of year results that the Mail Online also recorded a 74 per cent increase in revenues year-on-year.
The websites for Metro and The Sun were the only audited sites to record a fall in unique browsers for both average daily and monthly traffic.
The Metro recorded the biggest drop, of 11.1 per cent for daily browsers and 6.6 per cent for monthly traffic.
