Trinity Mirror is building a platform called Unmissab.ly which will aim to help users monitor the news agenda "without spending hours trawling through their Facebook and Twitter feeds".

Unmissab.ly will offer users a live feed of the top stories being shared by their contacts on social networks.

The platform, which is currently in beta and open to public testing, shows users stories which it believes are likely to interest them the most. Currently Twitter and Facebook accounts can be linked to the service.

The service will also offer users a daily email featuring a summary of news links different to those which have been selected to appear in the live feed online.

Unmissab.ly product manager Victoria Lee told Journalism.co.uk that the platform "is designed to sort through the mass of uninteresting news stories that often clog up your Twitter and Facebook news feeds and create a tailor-made summary of the stories that you will not want to miss."

She added that it is currently a "work-in-progress", and that they "want to learn about people's reactions to daily summaries vs live streams".

"We are still developing Unmissab.ly and haven’t got a concrete final launch date at present. We want to get feedback from testers during this beta stage to help us understand what users want and need from the product so we can improve it."
