University of Central Lancashire and Tampere University of Technology produced two newspapers and a website for project broadly focused on government cuts in the UK

Journalism students at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) joined forces with a Finnish university last week for a multimedia, pan-European news project.
The postgraduate and undergraduate students on print, broadcast, photography, publishing and international journalism courses produced two newspapers and the website with the help of Finland's Tampere University of Technology (TUT) . The Hot Pot site and project, which broadly focused on news relating to government cuts in the UK, involved testing new Finnish technology Newelo , which allowed the students to commission and collect content via mobiles.
The mobile content management system used Nokia N900 phones and is part of UCLan's ongoing research into mobile news delivery. Heli Vaataja from TUT will joining the university to conduct research in this area.
"This ambitious project will allow students from both universities to display their abilities as multimedia journalists. We hope this groundbreaking work will help set the agenda for teaching a new generation of journalists," said Paul Egglestone, digital coordinator for UCLan's School of Journalism, Media and Communication, last week.
