A total of 39 titles are currently available 'with many more expected later in the year'

Five US publishers that joined forces to offer a joint monthly subscription for digital editions of their magazines have today launched on iPad.

Next Issue Media, a joint venture formed by Condé Nast, Hearst, Meredith, News Corp and Time Inc, launched an Android version in April.

A total of 39 magazines, with titles including Vogue and Wired, are available in the joint subscription app "with many more expected later in the year", according to a release.

Readers who sign up for a $9.99 or $14.99-a-month subscription must be based in the US.

According to the release, "only Next Issue offers the combination of unlimited access plans and organisation of your personal library of magazines from a single app, delivering a truly exceptional reading experience".

"It's like having an entire magazine rack stocked with only the very best titles, but you can browse or read any issue, any time, on your iPad," Morgan Guenther, chief executive of Next Issue Media said in the release.

The $9.99-a-month subscription includes titles published monthly and bi-weekly, including back issues. The $14.99 subscription includes weeklies, and back issues, such as Entertainment Weekly, People, Sports Illustrated, The New Yorker and Time magazine.

Next Issue Media is offering individual magazine subscriptions, individual issues and a 30-day free trial. Print subscribers to the titles "can add digital editions of the same titles for free or a nominal cost".
