Brand Republic Brand Republic released details of the digital subscription model for its websites
Online titles within Haymarket's Brand Media division are to be subject to a metered digital subscriptions model.

In an announcement today the Brand Republic network of digital business publications, including Campaign, Marketing, PRWeek and Media Week, said the charges will be introduced from the first week of July.

As part of the model users of the sites will be given three free clicks per month before being asked to register. They then get another five clicks a month, at which point they will need to subscribe to view further content.

According to a report by Brand Republic access to jobs and blogs will remain open across the network, while its news services will adopt the metered approach.

Once a subscription to one site has been purchased the user will have access to the other online Brand Media division titles.

Online subscription will cost £155 a year +VAT, the same current cost of an annual subscription to a single print title.

The company will also offer a "premium subscription" of £199 +VAT per year for one print magazine and access to the network of online sites.

Those already subscribing to a print title will not be asked to pay online until their print subscription is up for renewal.

Speaking to Journalism.co.uk editor-in-chief of the Brand Republic Group Danny Rogers said it was not a "total lockdown approach".

"We've been talking about it for months, years even. These things are always ongoing discussions about how we make money from our content, like any publisher facing a changing media landscape.

"We do think people value our content enough to pay for it."

He added that this will help the company reinvest in its journalism.

"We're doing this from a position of confidence and strength, not defensiveness," he said.
