The BBC's Vietnamese service and the British Embassy in Hanoi have launched a photo essay competition to celebrate diplomatic relations between the UK and Vietnam.

Applicants to the 'People-To-People Links' competition must submit photo essays of at least five of their own pictures, which link Great Britain and Vietnam. The images should focus on a particular subject such as the environment, social or cultural issues, or education.

The competition is open to users of bbcvietnamese.com, resident in the UK and Vietnam, and is offering a laptop as first prize, with second and third place receiving digital cameras. Entries should be submitted via email with captions explaining how they are linked to the chosen theme. The deadline for the competition is August 22.
