The shortlists have been drawn up for the 2008 British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME) awards, and this year there are two specific categories for online magazines.

There are 18 different categories: 12 editor of the year awards, for different types of magazine; the editor's editor award; new launch of the year; art director of the year; the Fiona McPherson award for new editor of the year; and two online categories for business and consumer.

The results will be announced on November 4 at a ceremony at the London Hilton.

The shortlists for the online categories are as follows:
