The UK office of the European Parliament has announced the launch of the European Parliament prize for journalism .

The award will honour journalists who have dealt with major issues at an European level or have promoted the understanding of European Union (EU) intuitions or policies through the written press, radio, TV and the internet.

To be eligible to enter works must have been published or broadcast between May 2007 and April 2008, in one of the official languages of the European Union.

Entrants must also be nationals of an EU Member State or resident in the EU and a registered journalist.

Possible entrants have until the May 15 to make submission for the awards and winners of each medium will receive a €5000.
