Understanding online audiences and web traffic will be the focus of next month's meeting of the Digital Editors' Network.
Sponsored by Northwest Vision & Media and the School of Journalism, Media & Communication at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN), speakers at the free event will include David Higgerson, head of multimedia for Trinity Mirror regionals, and Ian Brogden, digital editor at Cumbrian Newspapers, who will take part in a discussion on building digital audiences for advertisers and the issues surrounding online pay walls.
Under Chatham House Rules the editors will discuss the metrics they use to measure the success of their groups' websites and the strategies they use to engage online readers.
Chairing the discussion will be Francois Nel, director of the Journalism Leaders Programme at UCLAN, who will present findings from his two-year study into online revenue activities at UK newspapers.
Nick Turner, head of digital content development for CN Group, will close the event with a discussion about online coverage of the forthcoming national election in the UK.
The event will run from 1:30-5pm on 25 February at UCLAN. Full details of the programme and how to register are available at this link .
