Bauer Media and IPC Media dominate the nominations for consumer magazine of the year in the 2010 PPA Awards, the shortlist of which has been announced.

The publishers will also compete against Hachette Filipacchi, Dennis Publishing and the National Magazine Company in the same category with nods for the latter's Cosmopolitan, Bauer's Empire and IPC's Woman & Home.

This year's awards from the industry body include new categories to recognise the different digital developments in consumer and business magazines.

From the consumer side, Empire has also been nominated for its website and will be up against NME.com, Wallpaper.com, NewScientist.com and five other sites in this digital category.

Reed Business Information's Communitycare.co.uk and Flightglobal, both of which are represented at Journalism.co.uk's forthcoming news:rewired conference, are shortlisted for the business web service of the year, alongside six others.

Among the 22 categories, individual journalists are nominated in the writer of the year, editor of the year and columnist of the year categories across both consumer and business magazines. The shortlist can be viewed in full on the PPA's website .
