Sky News has created an interactive tool for exploring 25 years of UK political opinion polls. The Poll Tracker allows users to search information from every opinion poll rating the main political parties since 1983.
The average ratings of the Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties over specified time periods are displayed as a line graph, while the results of individual polls are available as bar graphs.
Key political news events from throughout the period are also highlighted on the graphs.
Phil Wardman, head of newsgathering for Sky News Online, said the tracker was 'a must-visit web page' for those interested and involved in politics.
“Sky News prides itself on being first to the big stories, first with new technology and first for innovation. The addition of the Poll Tracker to skynews.com is part of this commitment to innovation – it challenges the traditional way of looking at things, and offers people a unique tool of a kind that that they can’t access anywhere else,” he said in a release .
“Methods and procedures differ greatly between different polling companies, and to be able to have a single reference point where this data has been weighted and is presented in an easily digestible, but informative and accurate way, is a huge step forward."
