Trinity Mirror's Teesside Evening Gazette has signed a five-figure sponsorship deal for its multimedia sports coverage, a release from the publisher has said.

Local companies and organisations, including Middlesbrough College and social housing group Fabrick, are the first to participate in the package, which will offer advertising opportunities across the title's print, video and blog content.

From now on videos featuring sports discussions with chief writer Eric Paylor and sports editor Phil Tallentire - which currently attract more than 50,000 views per video, according to the release - will be filmed in front of a TV-style sponsors' board.

The board will also be used as the backdrop for sports video content filmed on location.

"It's a win-win scenario for us because it actually adds value to the content, while giving our sponsors a very visible presence," said Darren Thwaites, editor of the Gazette, in the release.
