For the second year running, the Wincott Foundation will reward financial blogs, online columns and features and websites, as part of its awards scheme.
Nominations for the award, which was won for the first time by the Financial Times' Alphaville blog in 2008, are now being asked for and require up to six examples of content which appeared during 2008, along with a covering letter.
To qualify for the online award, material must have been published exclusively online and show 'a wider understanding of economic, financial and business life', as stated in the objectives of the Wincott Foundation on its website .
In an announcement on the site , awards secretary David Crook said no specific criteria have been set for the online journalism category, a prize for which is yet to be decided, because 'the field of online journalism is extremely wide and extending all the time'.
In addition to the online award, prizes for Senior Financial Journalist of the Year, Young Financial Journalist of the Year and Personal Financial Journalist of the Year are also up for grabs.
The Wincott Awards have been held since 1970 in honour of financial commentator Harold Wincott .
All nominations should be sent to davidmcrook@yahoo.com by February 28.
