Crafts Beautiful magazine has promoted Elizabeth Hudson to deputy editor. Hudson was previously production editor for three Aceville Publications titles, Crafts Beautiful, Let's Make Cards! and Lets Get Crafting!

She told Journalism.co.uk she would now have "an enormous input into producing the magazine every month".

"I'll be feature writing, sub-editing, proofreading, organizing designers and commissioning projects, flat panning, coordinating photography shoots, signing off pages for printing, getting involved with production and design, and will be actively working to enhance our magazine."

Hudson started her publishing career as an advertising executive for the National Magazine Company but left advertising to join Quick & Crafty magazine as an editorial assistant. From Quick & Crafty magazine she joined Aceville Publications.

Her advice to those wanting to be a journalist is: "Be patient and prepared to do unpaid work experience. Experience is your best attribute, so get as much as you can. Invest in a good portfolio and record clippings of your strongest pieces of work. Consider a subject matter you wouldn't normally choose, as you may find you love it!"
