There is a lot of chatter about how to support independent news, from charitable status in the UK to news deals with tech platforms. But are those really going to provide long-term sustainability?
In this week's podcast, we speak to Lexie Kirkconnell-Kawana, CEO of the UK press regulator IMPRESS, about how to protect independent journalism.
Another promising space is news deals with AI companies and publishers, which would provide a new revenue line for newsrooms, remove copyright concerns and improve AI training models.
