She will be responsible for creating rotas, paying contributors, and providing support to the newspaper's news editors and journalists.
Prior to her appointment at the Sunday Telegraph Hastings worked in the marketing and training departments for several global law firms.
She told Journalism.co.uk that those wanting to find work as a news desk manager should learn "as much as possible about newspapers and newspaper jargon."
