Sunday Times iPad edition

The Sunday Times recorded a high of more than 100,000 unique users for each issue of its iPad edition in August, head of technology Simon Regan-Edwards told the World Editors Forum in Kiev this week.

Outlining the latest figures to the conference, Regan-Edwards added that the Sunday Times iPad edition also recorded "high traffic" for August overall, of more than 220,000 unique users.

The figures for August also found an average engagement time of 58 minutes per user, per issue.

The Sunday Times iPad app launched in December 2010, following the release of The Times iPad app earlier in the year and The Times' paywalled website just days earlier.

Access to the app is available as part of The Times' digital pack for £2 a week for first 3 months, which then rises to £4 a week, or a single issue costs £2.49.

Earlier this year News International reported an increase in iPad edition downloads of 80 per cent for the Sunday Times in January compared to September 2011, taking it to almost 64,000 downloads.

The Times iPad edition saw a download increase of 35 per cent, taking it to almost 60,000 downloads.

According to the statistics released in February
, The Times' overall digital subscribers rose by 2 per cent to 119,255, compared to 116,902 in December, while the Sunday Times rose by 3 per cent to 113,818, from 110,024.

Last year the Sunday Times iPad app was named the winner of the XMA Cross Media Awards for excellence in multi-platform delivery of content.
