One of the downsides of being a sports journalist is that you are working more on weekends covering matchday fixtures.

But despite the unsocial hours, there are plenty of perks to the job and reasons to try and break in. Doing so is a separate challenge in itself.

In an old-but-gold article for the Guardian, columnist Gabby Logan shares six tips for breaking into sports journalism.
