Course Description

This two-day course is aimed at equipping delegates with the skills they require to shoot a basic video story package. It includes how to use a video camera; the fundamentals of audio; composing shots effectively; shooting a basic interview and editing a simple package using editing software.

Who should attend?

Journalists, press photographers and communications professionals. Anyone who wishes to put short video clips on their website.

Course Outline

  • Operate a professional video camera’s most useful features
  • Understand how to compose well-framed shots
  • Understand the different types of microphone available and when to use them
  • Mix audio in the edit
  • Shoot a simple interview
  • Shoot a story
  • Import video into the computer
  • Edit a sequence on Adobe Premiere Elements or FCP
  • Use the trimming tools
  • Add voice over, music, effects and titles
  • Export the story for the web.
