Over the last year or two, 'audience engagement' has become the buzz-phrase for publishers in terms of how they measure their success. A focus on SEO and clicks has largely been replaced by the power of social media in more accurately measuring how readers value online media, and in proving value to advertisers.

The University of Florida launched "The Captivate Collection" on Medium this week, hosting original articles by industry experts on the subject of audience engagement. So far, there are five articles to browse, including piece's by Circa's David Cohn and Storyful founder Mark Little, but with more than 30 authors lined up – from the New York Times and National Geographic to Edelman and the University itself – there should be several new posts a week for the next few months.

It's worth keeping an eye on.
