Role summary:

Heating Ventilating and Plumbing (HVP) is a long-running, multi-channel media brand which aims to be a valuable resource for UK plumbers and heating engineers that will enable them to thrive in their professions.

We are seeking a deputy editor to help HVP continue to grow and serve our market effectively.

Core responsibilities:

  • To source, write, and publish news, product stories, and feature content for HVP magazine, the HVP website, and across our social channels.
  • To sub-edit and layout pages in HVP magazine using Adobe InDesign.
  • To create and mail out our two weekly e-newsletters.
  • To take a lead on the development of the brand’s social media strategy.
  • Responsible for publishing reader competitions and contacting winners.
  • To provide support to HVP’s Editor to help ensure all relevant publication deadlines are met.
  • To represent the brand at external events, including our PHEX series of events.
  • Assist with further development of the brand into digital and in-person spaces.

Person specification:

  • Must be highly organised, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Must have strong writing and sub-editing skills.
  • Must be proactive and be willing to embrace responsibility.
  • Be able to build and maintain strong relationships with industry contacts, including PRs and manufacturers.
  • Have a strong understanding and experience using social media platforms in a professional capacity.
  • Proficiency in the use of Adobe Indesign and Photoshop is required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and content management systems is an advantage.
  • Basic HTML experience is desirable.
  • Have a minimum of two years of experience working on a media publication in either a B2B or B2C environment.
  • Experience with video, webinars, and podcasts would be desirable, but not essential.
