The covid-19 pandemic has heightened social and economic problems in the world. Migrants leaving their homes for better opportunities now face greater dangers, as perilous journeys have been made even riskier because of the virus.
This requires thorough and accurate coverage in the media, so Lucia Ballon-Becerra rounded up tips on covering migration during the pandemic in an article for the International Journalists' Network (IJN).
One of the tips for gathering accurate data is to use information from the International Organization for Migration's (IOM) Displacement Tracking Matrix that monitors migration flows.
