Prior to joining Country Life he spent six years as an officer in the Household Cavalry before completing a post graduate course in periodical journalism at the London College of Printing.

"I'm thrilled to be appointing Rupert to the role of deputy editor. The wealth of experience and the fantastic contribution he has made to the magazine already made him the perfect person for the job," said
Country Life editor Mark Hedges.

Country Life has also announced two more promotions within the editorial team.

Kate Green has been promoted from news editor to managing editor, and Phil Crewdson has been promoted to art editor.
