Tracy Corrigan has been appointed assistant editor of the Daily Telegraph.

She joins from the Financial Times where she was Lex column editor, a position she had held since January 2006.

Her new role will involve writing for the columns in the business section as well as the main paper.

"Tracy is a formidable journalist with a wealth of expertise," said editor Will Lewis.

"She is a welcome addition to the Telegraph’s top table."
