Bruce has worked for the group for eight years, first as production editor of the Evening Times before moving to the role of production editor of the Herald.
Before joining the group he was features production editor of the Daily Record, and features editor of the Sunday Mail in Glasgow.
His new role will involve management of budgeting, resources and technology across a group that includes the Herald, the Evening Times and the Sunday Herald, and the magazines The Scottish Farmer and The Great Outdoors.
Bruce will also oversee the installation of the new Apex Prestige Publishing System which will replace the Quark/QPS systems the group has used until now.
