Krause will lead a global team of about 400 staff based in London.
During his career, Krause has led Reuters teams in Germany, Israel/Palestine, China and India. He has been based in New Delhi for the past twelve months in his role as chief photographer, India.
He joined Reuters in 1989, and was appointed chief photographer, Israel and the Palestinian territories, based in Jerusalem in 2000. In 2004 he moved to Beijing to become chief photographer, China, and moved from there to Delhi in 2009.
Krause will report to Mark Thompson, managing editor, Multimedia. He will take up the role in November.
