Local democracy reporter

The Slough Observer is searching for an ambitious journalist to join its team as a local democracy reporter.

The BBC-funded local democracy service employs reporters to carry out one of the most important jobs in journalism - holding local government to account. 

The ideal candidate will have a passion for politics, will be able to cut through jargon and spin and will be comfortable asking tough questions of those in power. 

In return, you will report on Slough Borough Council and neighbouring authorities while receiving top training from the BBC and Newsquest. You will also receive support and coaching to develop your career.

This is an ideal opportunity for a senior reporter looking for a fresh challenge or a newly qualified reporter ready for their first break in journalism.

The post will be based at our office in Reading. Shorthand and a driving licence are essential.
